Aiming for the Olympic Games in 2024!
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Reno's Holland Linterman just won the 2019 U.S. National Indoor Archery Championships. "It was very exciting," said Linterman. "I thought that I would do okay." "She thought she had a good chance, everyone else thought she was going to win it," said her coach Lystra Pitts. "We all see how talented she is and how driven she is and how much work she puts in. So we expect great things from Holland." Even more impressive is the fact that at just 15 years old, she's competing against adults in the 18-to-20 year age group. "She routinely beats most of our adult league shooters here in the indoor range," added Pitts. Linterman is ranked seventh in the country in the indoor standings. Now she turns her attention to the outdoor season, where she was ranked sixth last year in a younger age group. "It's a different mindset," Linterman admitted. "Outdoor is more form-based, where indoor is more aiming." And it's more difficult. Instead of the 18-meter indoor distance, the target in outdoor is 70 meters away. Plus you have to battle the wind and the temperatures. But having the indoor title under her belt is a big step.
